Musical theater returns to Tunbridge Wells this fall

Tunbridge Wells Operatic and Dramatic Society (TWODS) are busy behind the scenes in preparation for a return to the stage in the fall with their new show, Destination Anywhere. The show will feature a mix of musical numbers from around the world. with performances at the Assembly Hall Theater from November 21-27, 2021.

TWODS has been performing in Tunbridge Wells for over 130 years, and due to Covid-19, 2020 was the first year they haven’t been able to put on a show since World War II.

President June Fuller said, “After an 18-month absence from the theater, we are very excited to be back doing what we love, entertaining audiences in the city this fall. We have worked incredibly hard behind the scenes to come back strong and this show certainly won’t disappoint. We look forward to welcoming old friends back to the theater and welcoming a new generation to our shows.

JJ Almond, Theater Director at Assembly Hall Theater in Tunbridge Wells, said: “We really can’t wait to welcome TWODS this fall with their long-awaited next show ‘Destination Anywhere: A Musical Journey‘. They’ve been delighting audiences in our theater for over 80 years, and this all-new musical medley is sure to be the uplifting escape we’ve all dreamed of. There is nothing quite like a live performance – the buzz in the auditorium, the anticipation before the curtain rises and the electric applause from the audience.

In addition to bringing joy to the city’s public since its first musical in 1890, the award-winning company has a long history of supporting charitable causes. Their last five shows held between 2017 and 2019 raised over £ 15,000 for charities including Tunbridge Wells Hospital Radio, Fegans, MS Society Tunbridge Wells Branch, Breast Cancer Kent and The Fawcett Society.
