Are you serious? Vans and Mozart?

And Dee-bede (Groove is in the heartrrrrt!) and Bjork and more 90s songs than you can listen to!* The Van Opera takes Mozart’s 1791 opera The Magic Flute, throws it on a trailer and transports it to the modern world. Here is the Mixed Precipitation troupe during a recent rehearsal.

I don’t know anything about opera or flutes

If you know The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflote), impressive! I’m not going to tell you everything, except to say that young professionals entering an essential job with a high burnout (education?).

If you don’t know opera, it doesn’t matter. You will love the music, the singing, the fun of being outdoors at the Peace Plaza enjoying top notch voices, puppets and musicians doing their thing.

Personal note: If I said it once, I said it 3,456 times; If you want your kids to be great problem solvers, you want them to see and be part of as much art (of all kinds) as possible. Art helps us learn to see things from a different perspective and is an important part of critical thinking.

After the show, treat yourself to one of Rochester’s many delicious, delectable, and sometimes luxury dining experiences (the restaurants would have been easier to say, but lacked alliteration).
